I just purchased an NSKK High Leader out of the woodwork, directly from the family of the veteran, outside Pittsburgh. Although the photo to the left is NOT the exact dagger I bought (I have not taken photos of the actual dagger yet), this dagger has been in the hands of the vet and the family since it was returned with the soldier in 1945. This discovery puts to rest once and for all the concept that these daggers are somehow not authentic. The dagger is in nearly perfect condition, and is actually named to an NSKK Brigadefuhrer, via a beautifully executed personalization on the upper scabbard fitting. Look for this new and exciting find to appear for the first time in print in Tom Wittmann's upcoming SA book. The dagger will make its debut at MAX 2009.
