Bizarre Hitler medical records now being auctioned

Medical records collected and commissioned by the U.S. Army from several of Hitler's former doctors are being auctioned right now by an East Coast dealer, according to this piece. And yes, it's fair to say that, aside from being a messianic and genocidal madman, Hitler had a lot of problems.

To start with, there was the cocaine, initially taken to manage sinus issues and a sore throat (wonder if 1970s rock bands ever used that diagnosis to justify their coke intake?). Unsurprisingly, the coke moved far beyond the sinus problems into a problem of its own.

His "uncontrollable flatulence" led Der Fuhrer to take as many as 28 different drugs to try to treat it, including at least one with strychnine poison in it. Hitler, a vegetarian, also occasionally resorted to chamomile-based "cleansing enemas" to also try to manage the flatulence problems.

And Hitler's libido was stunted enough (wonder if the cocaine and the anti-flatulence drugs contributed to that?) that he took injections of bull semen.

The article notes that the 225 pages of records include X-rays of Hitler's skull, drawings of his sinus passages and more. The auction, which closes this week, is expected to bring in $2,000.
