A friend of mine sent me
this article from the New York Times on fine watches as an alternative investment. Article is well-written, but it ignores one point that I cover in
History's Jackpot. Only those well-connected within a collectibles-field, who can consistently buy below-market value, can make money reliably and consistently. And most often, those people are called dealers. Of course, you can be really lucky, as I was when I invested in 2000 Chateau Lafite just before the China wine-buying boom, but luck is no way to invest.
