Watch Fetish

A friend of mine sent me this article from the New York Times on fine watches as an alternative investment.  Article is well-written, but it ignores one point that I cover in History's Jackpot.  Only those well-connected within a collectibles-field, who can consistently buy below-market value, can make money reliably and consistently.  And most often, those people are called dealers.  Of course, you can be really lucky, as I was when I invested in 2000 Chateau Lafite just before the China wine-buying boom, but luck is no way to invest.
