My New Gig with Pawn Stars as New Weapons Expert

History Hunter Gottlieb Makes First Appearance as Weapons Expert for History’s Pawn Stars
Talks about lethal rifle used in infamous Hatfield-McCoy feud
SOLANA BEACH, CALIF. –  Craig “The History Hunter” Gottlieb, a noted author and dealer in collectible weapons and military antiques, made his first appearance this week as the go-to expert on weapons for the History Channel’s “Pawn Stars,” discussing a vintage rifle that had a key role in the notorious Hatfield-McCoy feud.
“It’s a great opportunity to work with the crew in Las Vegas, and with Leftfield Pictures,” said Gottlieb. “In my new role with them, I get to do what I love best, talk about the history and investment opportunities behind some of the most interesting weapons in the world. I love being able to share with the public some of history’s great stories, as told through the artifacts that survive those times.”
In the “Pawn Stars” episode, Gottlieb discusses a late-19th-Century Winchester rifle that has been traced to William Anderson “Cap” Hatfield, who reputedly used it to shoot seven members of the rival McCoy clan during the notorious Appalachian feud that lasted nearly three decades during and after the Civil War. The rifle has seven notches on its barrel, one for each of the seven McCoys that Hatfield claimed to have killed with the weapon.
The “Pawn Stars” appearances, taped recently in Las Vegas, are part of Gottlieb’s work as an expert consultant for film and television productions on military antiques and collectible weapons. Gottlieb also is scheduled to tape an episode this week of “American Restoration,” a spin-off of “Pawn Stars” that also is produced by Leftfield Pictures.
Gottlieb’s four books include “History’s Jackpot: Investing in Antiques and Collectibles,” a guide to the investment opportunities in all kinds of collectible goods. He is a blogger and contributor to Mandatory.com, a AOL website focused on male-interest subjects.
